Miqui is a multidisciplinary artist—creative director, animator, painter, and cellist—whose work flows between digital innovation and organic expression.
Her career began in Chicago at The Onion News Network, where she honed her skills in visual effects and animation in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. From there, she went on to lead the creative direction for The Pride in the Park Music Festival, serving as the sole designer responsible for all marketing and promotional graphics, including large-scale stage banners, festival tents, and event branding.
Since then, her work has expanded to commercial campaigns, immersive installations, and live performances. In 2021, she contributed motion design to the documentary, Love, Charlie: The Rise and Fall of Chef Charlie Trotter, which went on to receive a nomination at the Chicago International Film Festival and is now available to stream on Netflix.
Miqui also serves on the board of Half Rez, the premier motion design and animation event in the Midwest, where she helps shape the future of the industry through community, creativity, and collaboration.
Beyond motion graphics, she is a dedicated cellist, creating meditative sound journeys that blend music with spirituality. Her paintings, often raw and unstructured, channel emotional release into bold, tactile works available as originals and prints.
Now based in Costa Rica, Miqui draws inspiration from the ocean. Surfing has evolved into both a discipline and a philosophy, teaching patience, instinct, and a state of flow. Just as reading the waves demands adaptability and timing, her creative process mirrors that same precision, informed by years of directing high-level visual work.
Whether through motion design, live performance, or visual art, Miqui creates work that transforms, connects, and invites audiences into deeper states of experience. Pura Vida.
